Salik Shah

Salik Shah is an Indian writer, filmmaker, editor and publisher specializing in developing original content-driven transmedia brands and IP for global audiences from India in genres such as science fiction, fantasy, horror, crime, adventure and drama.

His fiction and poetry has been nominated for Elgin, Toto and Kumaon Literary Festival’s Fellows of Nature awards. One of his short stories appears in a course syllabus at SOAS University in London. He is the founding editor of Mithila Review, Asia’s leading science fiction and fantasy journal. He is the Seasteading Institute ambassador to India and a Future of India Fellow with media appearances and publications around the world.

A former journalist and advertising professional, Shah studied film at Film and Television Institute of India (2009). His writings explore alternate futures, fluid identities and open movement across shifting geographies and borders. He is the editor of a forthcoming anthology of speculative stories, “India 2049: Utopias & Dystopias,” which explores urgent and critical issues that humanity is facing already. He has written feature films, and produced videos and documentaries for Bollywood Hungama, Red Chillies Entertainment, Fahrenheit Films, Hallmark, and National Geographic Channel, among others.

Shah has led 360 campaigns for many brands and causes, including Tata Group’s youth awareness campaign Jaago Re! In 2018, Shah spearheaded the 2nd Edition of Science Film Festival for Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in India and Thailand.
